[Special]The budget is around 1,000 yen! Cheap delicious meals Let’s eat up B-class gourmet of Ota City!

Cheap delicious meals are for common people. B-class gourmet restaurants in Ota City that can be enjoyed with the budget of around 1,000 yen and loved by local residents are featured in this article! The fascinations of gourmet dishes that have taken root in Ota City such as the popular menu of a long-established curry restaurant and homemade kebabs will be introduced here.

[Kamata Matsuya Curry] (Kamata)

Traditional homemade curry originated and grown in Kamata! “Beef Outside Skirt Steak and Curry”
1,020 yen!

Speaking of curry in Kamata, Matsuya Curry is very famous among curry lovers and B-class gourmet fans. Originally, the restaurant was called Matsuya Curry founded in Kamata in 1962. The Matsuya Curry closed down in 1993. However, shortly after that, this Matsuya Curry was opened in Kamata like taking over the closed Matsuya Curry and has been loved for long years to date.

One of the features of this Matsuya Curry is its curry roux that has been made with the same recipe since its foundation. Actually, this roux is the same as the one prepared by the founder of the previous Matsuya Curry, so it’s not too much to say that the previous Matsuya Curry and the current Matsuya Curry basically serve the same curry.

The taste you never get tired of with the roasted smell of flour that reminds you of nostalgic curry and rice, and spiciness of lots of spices are unique to Matsuya Curry! They use carefully-selected brand rice, and cook rice rather hard so that the rice will go well with their curry.

Another secret of the popularity is toppings. When you look at the menu, you will be surprised by a rich variety of menu items. Above all, the menu items unique to Matsuya are “steak” ones, ranging from chicken sauté, salty pork steak, beef steak to a sunny-side up. Since the degree of cooking is the essence of steak cooking, they can’t deceive customers by using precooked foods. Therefore, serving steaks is the proof that they cook them at the restaurant. Among them, “Beef Outside Skirt Steak and Curry”, a popular menu item that can be eaten at 1,020 yen will be introduced in this article.

After receiving an order, they start cooking beef outside skirt. The outside skirt is seasoned with salt and pepper, and when it’s browned, it’s done.

Freshly cooked apparently juicy outside skirt topped on curry is just 1,020 yen!
The degree of cooking is perfect and the compatibility with curry is outstanding! We heard that some customers order only this menu item. That’s convincing.
By the way, fukujinzuke pickle inevitably served with curry is the one from “Shuetsu”, long-established store that is called as the originator. They have used this fukujinnzuke since their foundation. That’s one of the points they have committed to.

“The curry roux that has been taken over and homemade toppings. We wish to preserve our attractiveness that can’t be produced at franchise chain restaurants, going forward. Additionally, these comic books are prepared for our customers so that they can read when they are waiting. That’s one of the points we have committed to. We always make efforts to prepare the complete set of the latest much-discussed comic books, and renew them when they get old, because we are doing restaurant business. I don’t remember how many times we renewed the complete set of‘ONE PIECE’.” (Mr. Sengaito, Store manager, The photo in the lower right)

Matsuya Curry has systems to adjust the details of curry to your taste such as adjustment of spiciness, free large serving and various types of student discount as well as a rich variety of menu items. Once you eat it, you will be probably addicted to the taste!

[KOLBE, Kebab Shop] (Zoshiki)

The kebabs are totally homemade from the preparation and full of good taste of meat!“Kabab and rice” 500 yen!

Döner kebab, one of Turkish dishes has been recognized as fast food recently. KOLBE, Kebab Shop introduced in this article is the one that is thoroughly particular about the meat of kebab.
*All the prices shown in this article are the ones including tax as of September, 2019 (at the interview time).

The first key point KOLBE is committed to is pickling meat at the shop. In fact, the preparation of meat is the key in making kebabs. They pickle meat into special spices that determine the taste of the stop a day before they cook, and form that cylindrical shape. But this preparation takes much time and labor.
The second key point is that they intentionally use only chicken meat. They decided to do so, because chicken is most suitable for showing kebab’s unique quality, matching Japanese people’s sense of taste.

KOLBE’s kebab menu has four types: sandwiches, rolls, rice and cups. Kebab and rice introduced here was unexpectedly good. In fact, kebabs go well with rice! They have various kinds of toppings, so it’s fun to find your original taste using toppings.

KOLBE has an eating area and side menu. Since Mr. Mehndi, the shop manager (The photo in the upper right) is from Iran, typical Iranian cuisine, Koobideh (the skewers in the back of the photo in the lower right) and Jujeh kebab (the skewers in the front of the photo in the lower right) are their specialty dishes that go well with beer. The side menu eaten as nibbles for beer is absolutely stunning.

KOLBE is a Persian word and that means a hut. This shop is highly recommended among kebab shops that have been more and more popular recently.
