[Special] Exploring Three Remarkable Ramen Shops along the Keikyu Airport Line

The Keikyu Airport Line connects seven stations from Keikyū Kamata Station to Haneda Airport Terminals 1·2 Station. We have featured ramen shops in Ota City in the past, but this time we will explore and introduce some ramen shops along the Keikyu Airport Line.

Nostalgic yet fresh, enjoy an orthodox ramen experience evolved

Chuka Soba charume

Chuka Soba charume is located a 3-minute walk from Kōjiya Station. It was opened in 2019 so that the owner can offer ramen that is true to his vision. It is a popular ramen shop that is always bustling with customers.

Today, we will introduce Tokusei Chuka Soba (Special Ramen), which is a recommended menu at Chuka Soba charume that showcases shoyu ramen (ramen with a soy sauce-based broth).

Tokusei Chuka Soba: 1,100 yen (including tax)
It is a luxurious ramen with all the available toppings, including four pieces of char siu (roasted pork), which is available in three different varieties, flavored egg, menma (fermented bamboo shoots), and naruto (fish cake) in the middle.

The light yet deeply flavorful and rich broth combined with a flavorful soy-based sauce is a perfect match for the thin noodles.
It is hearty, but since the taste does not linger in the mouth, it makes you feel like you can eat much more, and the taste is addictive.
The ramen resembles the classic, orthodox ramen, but it has been updated for the times.

The char siu is especially exquisite in this ramen, consisting of three types: pork belly, sous vide cooked chicken breast, and sous vide cooked pork butt. They are so soft that they melt in the mouth, and the subtle flavor goes perfectly with the soy sauce-based soup.

The shop only has eight counter seats and looks very stylish.
Chuka Soba charume was selected to receive the “Ota City’s Best Gourmet Foods” award, which is a system to judge and promote Ota City’s restaurants on merits such as food, atmosphere, and services. Because of this, Chuka Soba charume collaborated with Maruyama Seimen, which operates frozen ramen vending machines nationwide called “Noodle Tours,” and sold the frozen version for a limited time in Ota City in November 2021, resulting in a great response.

Mr. Iwase , the owner
“I figured if I am going to open a ramen shop, it’d have to be somewhere close to my hometown, so that’s why I picked Kojiya. I hope to provide delicious ramen that makes people think it is great to have charume nearby.”

According to the owner, Chuka Soba charume is still in the middle of its evolution. It is definitely a place to keep coming back to check out for the progress.

High-quality shoyu tonkotsu classic ie-kei ramen

Jyoujyouya

Jyoujyouya is an ie-kei (a type of ramen with pork and soy sauce-based broth with thick noodles) ramen shop located a 3-minute walk along Kanpachi-dori Avenue from Ōtorii Station. It was originally a franchise of a famous ie-kei ramen shop, Rokkakuya Haneda-ten, but the shop became independent in 2013.

Today we will show you “Char Siu Ramen” topped with a lot of the special char siu and a side dish “Cabbage Char Siu,” both of which are popular items with the clientèle.

Char Siu Ramen: 950 yen (including tax) with a Flavored Egg (topping): 100 yen (including tax), and Cabbage Char Siu: 100 yen (including tax)
The ie-kei style of ramen has a rich and creamy shoyu tonkotsu (pork and soy sauce-based broth) soup with thick and filling noodles that are topped with char siu, nori (dried seaweed), and spinach. Jyoujyouya’s “Char Siu Ramen” is a hearty bowl with extra char siu (four pieces) added. We also added a popular topping, “Flavored Egg.”

The soup is made from a base broth that emphasizes the richness of pork bones, combined with an original soy sauce-based sauce with a mild flavor that has been well prepared. The noodles are the classic thick noodles for ie-kei ramen that come from Sakai Seimenjo. The soup clings to the thick and chewy noodles, offering a full ie-kei ramen experience.

The char siu has a perfect balance of meat and fat, and it melts in your mouth when eaten with the soup. You can tell that they are proud of their product and a great deal of time has been put into preparing the char siu.

“Cabbage Char Siu” is a popular side dish ordered by many customers, which is made from dressed and marinated cabbage combined with their special char siu. It goes perfectly with the ramen and makes an addictive combination.

It is nice to see that they offer the option to order the ramen per your preferences (doneness of the noodles, strength of the soup’s flavor, etc.), which is specific to ie-kei ramen shops. The large shop is always packed with customers.

Jyoujyouya keeps growing while adhering to the flavor of ie-kei ramen. How about filling up with hearty ie-kei ramen?

Abura soba that allows you to create your own flavor

Shoumentei Kojiya Honten

Abura soba is a noodle dish where you coat noodles in a thick, oil-based sauce. We visited a popular abura soba shop located about a 7-minute walk from Kōjiya Station, called Shoumentei Kojiya Honten.

Let us introduce the abura soba that has been popular with the local community since its opening in 2008.

Abura Soba Omori: 780 yen (included tax)
The most popular dish is “Abura Soba Omori (Large Abura Soba).” The toppings include menma, char siu, seaweed, and shredded nori.

On the tables in the shop, you will see condiments such as additional sauce, special chili oil, vinegar, black pepper, cayenne pepper powder, and ground raw garlic. You can add these condiments freely to create your own flavor.

We prepared our dish with chili oil, vinegar, additional sauce, and black pepper, per the house recommendation.

Mix them well with the noodles and sauce, and it is ready to eat! The thick, wavy noodles are well mixed with the sauce, and the substantial portion of noodles weighs 255 grams before cooking, so you will have a dish that is both delicious and filling. The price of a regular portion and large portion is the same, so if you really want to eat your fill, we recommend the large portion.

Chitantan: 90 yen (including tax)
After you finish the bowl of abura soba, there is yet another treat. If you give the bowl back to the staff and ask for “Chitantan,” you will be served hot egg soup. The combination of the remaining sauce and the mild egg soup is easy on the stomach and the perfect way to finish up your meal. It is a menu item we definitely recommend.

Mr. Katsuta , the manager
Mr. Katsuta started the shop with the owner in 2008.
“The name of the shop was chosen with the hope that customers would be able to eat their fill, laugh, and never leave hungry. As the dish allows you to arrange the flavor per your preference, we have a variety of customers from young to old.”

Shoumentei also has mail-order products that are quite popular. (You can purchase from the following official website.)
Shoumentei’s abura soba has been established as a local specialty. We hope you enjoy it.
