Komainu (Rokugo Shrine)
Komainu is placed as a guardian at the entrance to a temple or shrine or in front of the main building of a shrine.
A pair of stone-carved dogs, one with an open mouth (Agyo) and another with a closed mouth (Ungyo), face each other at the right and left of the entrance.
Komainu at Rokugo Shrine is the oldest in the city, and it is known that people in Rokugo, as shrine petitioners, offered them in 1685.
“Sanemon,” the name of a person who carved these dogs, is inscribed on them.

In March 2014, when the whole building was temporarily closed for renovation, the Ferris wheel was also on the verge of discontinuation.
But, many people in the community hoped for continuation, and in October 2014, the Ferris wheel returned with a new nickname “Shiawase no Kanransha” (Ferris Wheel of Fortune) and new color.
It still plays a role of “Kamata’s landmark” and is well known throughout the country.
